Samsung will continue its lead over iPhone in the smartphone market in 2013- Strategy Analytics

Samsung will continue its lead over iPhone in the smartphone market in 2013, according to analysis of Strategy Analytics. Analyst talked with Reuters and said that they are expecting growth of Korean electronics giant over 35% this year in the handset portfolio. On the other hand, they have expected that Apple will enjoy 33% growth and this will be one hand behind Samsung.Neil Mawston the executive director of Strategy Analytics has wrote an email to Reuters and forecasted that Samsung will extend its lead over Apple in this year as of their multitier product portfolio. He further wrote that Samsung will sell almost 290 million smartphone and this will be 31% higher than the last year sales of 2012 which is 215 million. Meanwhile, Apple is projected to enjoy 180 million sales and this is 21% of the market share, one percent higher than the last year.

According to analysts there is only one element that can mitigate Samsung’s lead over Apple and that is iPhone mini. If Apple with come up with iPhone mini they will be able to lower down the prices and will be able to target lower people. The rumors are full boom that Apple will launch iPhone mini to target the cheaper market of India and China.

Strategy Analytics have further added that launch of iPhone mini is not expected this year but in upcoming three years they will come up with iPhone mini to target hundreds of prepaid customers worldwide.

Right now, iPhone 5 is enjoying profitable growth and thus there are less chances for Apple to come up with iPhone mini, this year. It is still expected that launch of iPhone mini will be in 2014 and Apple will be discovering the fresh stream of growth.

Analyst has further projected that growth in smartphone market will slow down in 2013 and rate of growth will shrink to 27% from the last year growth of 41%. Analyst has marked these figures from the developing economies of Western Europe, Asia, China and North America.
